Supervillains Dr. Drakken (a big blue guy), Shego (sexy
green-jumpsuited sidekick), Monkey Fist (and his army with monkey
ninjas) and Duff Killigan (the world's most dangerous golfer) use time
manipulation to break up the team of teen superspy Kim Possible and her
goofy best friend Ron Stoppable. It might be best if you
caught a
few episodes of the Disney Channel's fast and funny Kim Possible series
before tackling
A SITCH IN TIME, since the time-traveling plot is used to satirize the
whole series, its characters and the world in general.
That being said, there is
something rotten in
Hollywood when a direct to video Disney movie adapted from a kid's
cartoon series is funnier and more imaginative than many of the
mainstream comedies I have seen in the past five years. As in the show,
Christy Carlson Romano and Will Friedle are perfect voicing the film's
heroes Kim and Ron, while Futurama's John Di Maggio and King of Queen's
Nicole Sullivan help make the foolish Dr. Drakken and his sidekick
Shego the greatest animated villain team since Boris and Natasha. The
animation is simple yet stylish, the voice work of the guest stars
excellent, and the dialogue often offbeat and hilarious. Pure fun for
kids as well as for adults who appreciate smart humor and animated
films that don't moralize or take themselves too seriously.
