A few times in movie history, the planets have aligned just right to create something like CASABLANCA. A film beyond criticism, as much a part of American mythos as Babe Ruth and the Model T. The gladiators of Rome never heard such cheers as those heard in a crowded theatre when Claude Rains says, "Round up the usual suspects." - JL

Every few years, rumors come out about somebody somewhere remaking CASABLANCA - in recent times, it was Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck who were going to tackle it - but it never happens, thank God. Warner Brothers themselves tried several times to recapture the magic of CASABLANCA and could never do it, although, being Warner Brothers, they came up with pretty good pictures anyway . But please, I beg you Hollywood, take a lesson from such utter failures as of the remake of PSYCHO and the bigscreen adaptation of THE HONEYMOONERS. There are some things you should just leave alone. Let there be only one CASABLANCA, now and forever. - JB
