THE
ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD Perhaps the screen's
all-time grandest
adventure film, THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD is as heart- stoppingly
rousing as the day it opened in 1938. Has any other adventure
film boasted a hero more dashing and charismatic than Errol
Flynn? A heroine more lovely than Olivia de
Havilland?
Villains more hissable than Claude Rains and Basil Rathbone?
Ah,
just the thought of this film makes me want to go out and fight a duel
with a deer carcass slung over my shoulders. I also love the
way
it screams "TECHNICOLOR!!!!!" in every frame, and gets away with it.
