About Stuff You Gotta Watch

Conceived in Liberty August the First, 2006

Initially created by webmaster John B as a small outlet where he could write a few lines about movies he had seen, Stuff You Gotta Watch (which was almost named The Ramblyn Revue) soon morphed out of control when fellow webmaster John L. donated about 100 reviews he had written about the classic movies in his personal DVD collection.

It is not intended to be a complete database of movie reviews, just an ever-growing, randomly added-to page that hopes to inspire people to check out some movies they may not have otherwise seen, or remind people how good some of their favorite films are. You can tell how random the site is when you consider we still have not reviewed Citizen Kane or The Godfather movies.  Yet we do review College Confidential.  Go figure.

The "news" on the front page is meant mostly for entertainment. It is a way to keep the page fresh, visually interesting and test out our ability to make obscure jokes and bad pun headlines. There are occasions when a joke in one of our news stories is intended for one particular reader, so if you don't get the joke... move on. The news stories are almost completely pointless, so naturally, we have archived most of them for posterity.

The Ready for the Closeup section is as random as the rest of the page.  We don't write articles on any schedule; we just write them when we feel like it.

The site has grown beyond where we expected it to - we could not have foreseen three sections dedicated to Japanese Cinema, a huge section dedicated to the Little Rascals, or a set of reviews of every Beatles album.  But, in the end,  that is really what Stuff You Gotta Watch was intended to be - a place just to write about stuff. See it, write about it, upload it and move on.

To explore some of the site from this page, use the pictures on the right, which will take you to some of Stuff You Gotta Watch's main sections.  To check out sample reviews, we've listed four in the righthand column that you can visit.  We've offered some quotes from each review, but to see the full reviews, use the title of each film as a link.

That's about it.  Thanks for visiting this page.  Return to the front page using the menu above, or explore some of our other sections from the same page.
